Ah, the new Audi A3 convertible…Not quite. It certainly looks like a drop-top A3, and although that car’s on the way, this is the Audi Cross Cabriolet quattro. Now trying say that really fast.

This two-door, four-seat cabriolet previews Audi’s Q5, and perhaps more significantly, will make its debut at the LA Auto Show today using diesel power.

Hyundai’s Genesis coupe concept, which will debut at the Los Angeles auto show, will provide a glimpse at the styling direction for a four-seat car based on the company’s new rear-drive platform.

The vehicle is expected to debut in late 2008 or early 2009.

The Genesis coupe concept will be the second model on Hyundai’s new rwd platform. The first will be the Genesis sedan, which goes on sale next summer.

A convertible also is being considered, says a Hyundai source.

The Genesis coupe will target such vehicles as the Infiniti G35 coupe. It will be powered by a V-6 engine.

Oh dear…Don’t worry, it’s still just a concept so it may never happen. Actually it will. This is the Maybach Landaulet study, due to be unveiled in Dubai later this month, and it’ll go into production at the start of 2008. The price? A fair way over the £345,687 you’ll currently pay for a 62S.

It’s basically a convertible 62S, but the roof is definitely an afterthought. The passengers have to request the chauffeur to close it, and the retracted roof has to be manually covered. At least it closes in a quite spritely 16 seconds.
